Referrers

The NVOPS team are keen to work with referrers to achieve excellent client outcomes. Consultations are required for assessment and prescription for all orthosis provision.


Information that might be helpful for yourself or your client;


NVOPS orthotist/prosthetists are registered providers for -

  • NDIS

  • TAC

  • Workcover

  • Department of Veterans Affairs

  • SWEP

  • Enable

  • Private Health Insurance


Orthoses for acute injuries -

An orthotist is available for same day (Monday to Friday) consultations, orthosis provision and advice for acute injuries such as fractures and sporting injuries. A referral is required for these appointments, and can be emailed, faxed or sent with the client.

In order not to keep clients waiting unnecessarily, we prefer for the client to contact us for a same day appointment time. This enables us to schedule appointments and reduce inconvenient waiting. We understand if this is not always possible.


Public and Private Hospital Inpatient Services -

NVOPS clinicians provide visiting services to public and private Hospitals within the area. Referral from medical or Allied Health professional is required. Client’s may have responsibility for cost of service depending on the nature of the referral and individual hospital policies. Ask NVOPS for more details on individual client situation.


Seminars -

Orthotist/Prosthetist, Elizabeth Cox can come to provide seminars in you practice or facility, these might be part of continuing education or general interest.

Seminar topics may be general information on prosthetics and orthotics or specific to a neurological condition such as MS.

These sessions can be tailored for:

  • General practices

  • Medical specialties

  • Allied health practices

  • Support groups

  • Public health departments

Suggested topics might include:

  • Technological advancements in prosthetic and orthotic components and what this can provide for clients.

  • What happens for NDIS participants who require orthoses and prostheses?

  • Prosthetics - what is possible?

  • Acute injury orthoses for upper and lower limbs.

  • How can orthoses and footwear provision protect against injury for diabetic high risk feet?

  • Outcome based practice at NVOPS.
