Northern Victoria Orthotic & Prosthetic Service is a small local practice providing clinical, technical and consultancy services for clients requiring orthoses and prostheses. We provide services for a broad area from Seymour to Wangaratta. The service has been established in Shepparton since 1999, with the directors ( Noel Mitchell and Lynne Weir) having over 30 years combined experience in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. The clinical role is undertaken by orthotist/prosthetists that hold a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics. Our broad experience prior to commencement of work in Shepparton allows us to provide orthoses for both acute and chronic conditions from paediatrics to the elderly for conditions such as fractures, polio, stroke and paediatric conditions such as cerebral palsy. Interim and definitive prosthetic services for amputees are avalable. Demand has grown steadily over the past years with great support from both public and private health providers throughout the region. Clients are generally seen on referral from general practitioners, orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, podiatrists, district nurses and other specialists. We are a recognised provider for the Department of Veteran's Affairs, Transport Accident Commision, and Workcover. Extensive work occurs at public hospitals of Goulburn Valley Health and Northeast Health in Wangaratta where we work closely with the orthopaedic and physiotherapy departments. Our focus is on a high quality service with positive client outcomes. We use the most clinically appropriate technology for each client and quality is ensured by fabrication of custom made orthoses and prostheses on site in Shepparton from material and componentry accessed from around the world.
Our aim is to provide a complete orthotic and prosthetic service to people of the North and North East so there is no need to travel from the region for these specialist services
